the snowiest of springs :)

Snow is still coming down here in Minnesota.  More time to work on minis.  I added to the miniature bathroom this week.  First, I had to paint the seat on the toilet blue.  The wood was bothering me when everything else was white and blue.  I added some more little bottles to the shelves, some towels and a perfume set by Dale from Dale's Dreams.

Now- I have to share with you this great coffee table and side tables I purchased from Cyd at ModPod Miniatures  for a house I have not even built yet :)  I want to build a 1960's themed house from scratch- but I won't allow myself to think about starting that build until I finish up all the houses I have in progress.  That does not mean I cannot buy and set aside things for that future house though.  Right??!!
Of course I need a couch for the living room that these tables will eventually live in- so my hubby and I built a couch.  I made the couch cushions but the beautiful throw pillows are from a seller on etsy My Little Creations by MellyEllen.  I fell in love with them when I saw them and made the couch with the pillows in mind.  The two vases on the side tables will be non working lamps- I have to make shades still.  I sometimes buy unfinished pottery from Ronni at Timber Ridge Studio and I purchased these vases from her.  I then tried to paint them with a funky "glazed" type of finish with the drips and splatters.  The tiny ashtray is from etsy seller MinPinThings.  I made the Life magazine and tv guide and the phone is from etsy seller Treasures From Texas
I purchased a cat planter in the same group as the vases from Timber Ridge Studio and I painted the kitty up and made a little plant for it.  The cat planter now lives in The Candy House living room :)
Last- I wanted to try making birdhouses from Elizabeth at Studio E's tutorial. (click the link and it will take you to her post for making these)  They were very fun to make and I like how they turned out.  Here you can see them on a bench in my flower shop dollhouse.  I think I  will be making more of these for some of my other houses too.  A big thank you to Elizabeth!

Hope the week brings you lots of moments to create and some spring sunshine!!!

Your blue bathroom is so stylish and cozy at the same time.
So much you already have gathered for your 1960's house. It will be an exciting project.
I love your little garden gnomes, they are irresistible.
In Denmark, the weather are also filled with snow there snowstorms in much of the country and blowing a stiff breeze, it's so cold. Last year on this day we had +22 degrees. Oddly weather.
Hugs

ah Wyrna- I think Mother Nature is testing both of our patience! That is okay- she cannot hold out forever- soon enough the green grass and sun will win out :) Thank you for your sweet comment. Hope you can stay inside warm and cozy and creating minis :) hugs to you too!

You've been happily busy. Those lamps will be so nice when they're finished. I love your little couch. The set of tables you purchased reminds me of something I had in the early sixties. Mine were shaped like a violin. It makes me laugh when I think of those tables. But, in those days, they were considered beautiful. I can't remember where they ended up. Elizabeth's bird houses are so cute. I must pick up some of those erasers at the dollar store. They sell them in a big glass jar and they come in all sorts of colours. All your purchases are lovely. You must be very happy. I am awaiting with anticipation the arrival of two big boxes. I went on an online shopping spree. Such fun! Today I went on a bus shopping spree to the fabric store. We are awaiting a huge snow storm in Ottawa. It's supposed to be starting tonight! So, I know how you feel.

You have been busy. Yay! Love the bathroom. And I love the furniture you've been getting for your 60s house.

Lots of fun stuff this time! I love the 60s living room set. I recreated the house I grew up in in the 70s. I had to make nearly everything from scratch because no one sells from that time. Have fun with your house!

I don't want a bathroom like this in real life because no one will ever want to leave it!

Great job, Kim!

Kim, I said it before you are very creative! You've made some wonderful miniatures, I really love the 60s room set :D! I am curious how it will look like....
Great purchases!
Over here the weather is the same.....no spring yet, I'll try to be patient ;)!
Warm hugs, Ilona

Hi. The bathroom is very neat with the blue toilet seat. It's nice in blue and white! I also buy things that I'm saving for the future. It's good. The sofa is great with tables.

We also still have snow coming down and it's cold outside.

Hello Kim,
The bathroom is great. The color scheme is just beautiful. The furniture you purchased is awsome. I cannot wait to see that projetyc come to life.

Maria- thank you so much. I don't know why this bathroom is going so slow, but I like it too :) hugs to you!!!

Lucille- thank you! I was born at the end of the sixties- so I have had to look for pictures a lot, but I soooo love the look of that era. You should try Elizabeth's tutorial- it was so easy to follow and so fun. Is your house modern or from an era gone by? Online shopping gets a bit addicting, doesn't it? A person has to be careful to not get carried away-lol. Stay safe and warm through your storm ♥

Wendy- not as busy as you-lol! You are my inspiration lots of times to get up off the couch. If spring decides to get here it will be easier to resist the couch and blanket :)I have three gourds on my desk in the craft room that will become creatures- even have ideas of who they will be but there needs to be more hours in the day :)

De-thank you! I am having the same thing happen to me which is part of why I am starting to collect things here and there for my 60's house and slowly make things. I wish I was as fast as you :) I remember your house from when you grew up-I love it! Now that I think of it-it may be what sparked my interest in creating my 60's house! Thank you for that♥

Thank you Sans :) I don't think in real life I would have a bathroom like this because it is a little too "pretty" for me- but I do love to do things like this in mini. My real life bathroom has wood paneled walls and molded oak leaf hooks for the towels- I like rustic in my real home :)

Kim said...

Ilona- you are so sweet! Especially because when I visit you I think I will never make minis as realistic and exquisite as yours :) Spring cannot hide from us forever- I promise :) warm hugs to you too♥

Lil- thank you!! I am glad I am not alone in buying things for homes not even built yet :) I hope your sun is at least shining- silly Mother Nature this year--perhaps she is holding on to winter because she has a fantastic spring planned for us :) hugs to you!!

Giac- thank you so much! Seems all my houses take years and years to complete-but I guess that is part of the fun, correct? hugs to you too :)

Oh Caroline! I am so jealous of flip flop weather!! The tiny little church was made by the talented Katie from Katie's Clay Corner. I love it so much I snapped it up right away when she put it in her etsy shop :) hugs to you too :)

Faye- it is getting warmer here finally-but it's still colder than usual for April in minnesota- we are finally in the high 40's. I have been in a slump but maybe your visit will inspire me to get working again :) Hope all is well with you and all of your critters ♥
