updates

I did not have a lot of time for myself this week-but I did manage to get a few things done.  I am feeling like working on the steampunk dollhouse again--I've got to face the construction of the wheels sooner or later!  I saved up the tins my hubby's almonds come in after he was finished and I finally have 6 of them.  I am going to make a track system around 3 of them on each side of the house- kind of like a tank.  Here is some of the tins in progress- still lots more to do on them.
My Marie doll had some more work done on her wig.  I started to add flowers- I want to add much more but they take time to make, so not too far on this yet.
Here is Marie and her friend lounging in the craft room with all their tables of treats.  Lots more treats to make too.
I made some more macaroons and some heart shaped cookies.  The cake was made for me by my sweet friend Patricia from http://papillonbleuuk.blogspot.com/
Susie Mae has a new addition to her room- a sweet folding Barbie house with Barbie doll!!  This is a Hallmark ornament that I found on ebay that I could not resist- isn't it cute??!
I also glued her shelf to the wall and there is a fishtank on her nightstand that was a gift from a sweet childhood friend.
That is it for this week- I really hope to get more done on the wig soon and maybe start getting the wheels attached to the steampunk dollhouse.  If only I didn't have to go to work!  Have a super week :)

thank goodness for warm fall days

My hubby and I are building a garage, so this last week has been spent clearing up the area that the cement slab will be laid. That progressed on to cleaning up the old garage (which is really just a big shed) so that the old garage can become part chicken coop and part snowmobile shed.  I am thankful the days have been pretty warm.  Here is the exciting picture of where our new garage will be-you have to use your imagination a lot in this picture.  I circled the four corner stakes of the building.
After we finished dinner each night I've worked a little on my craft projects.  I have painted all the siding on the Fisher Price house and started working on the brick foundation.  The original chimney is gone so I made a substitute out of chipboard and that will be bricked also.
I've added more curls to Marie Antionette's wig and one ribbon hairband.  I want to eventually have flowers, gems and ribbons all over this wig.
I made a trial macaroon for the dessert tables for Marie Antionette.  I think it turned out okay- now to make at least a dozen more.
One night last week I was thinking how horrible my cactus in my kitchen looked, so I repotted them and got rid of the pathetic looking ones.  That was my whole week!  I don't feel like I accomplished a lot this week, but we did spend a lot of time on arranging things for the garage, so real life stepped in a lot.  I'm hoping to have some goodies made to show you next week for Marie Antionette's tables.  I'm still feeling a little nervous about the dress, so I'm still sketching and planning on her costume.  See you next week!

Checking In :)

What have I been up to this week?  Jumping around from project to project and only getting a little done on each one :)  I have been progressing on the old Fisher Price dollhouse that belonged to my sister when she was young.  The house was in bad shape so I ripped down the walls that were there and I will be repainting and wallpapering.  Here is a before shot
This is where I am at right now
More painting on Christmas ornaments.  I'm hoping to have them done by the middle of November- I paint over 50 of them so they  take a little time.
With the advice of some great friends I tried making curls out of wool roving for the wig on my Marie Antoinette doll.  I wrapped the roving around bamboo skewers and then dipped them in hot water and laid them on a paper towel to dry.  When they were completely dry I sprayed them liberally with hair spray and let that dry.  I've only had time to add one curl to the wig, but I think it is going to work really well.

I ordered a little sign from my friend Katie's etsy shop Katie's Clay Corner and she sent me some extra goodies.  Among them was a couple of CandyLand game pieces.  I saved one to use for The Candy House dollhouse-but my hubby said I should make the other one into some sort of sign for my bakery dollhouse and I thought that was a great idea.  He cut the little man off his base for me and we made an hours sign for the bakery.  I think it turned out so cute- that man has great ideas!

I finished the bedspread and pillow for the little bed in Blythe Susie Mae's room and I am thinking of gluing this shelf in the picture to the wall.  The jar is there to hold it up while I decide whether or not to glue it permanently.
Last- this next project was my favorite thing I worked on this week.  A really good friend of mine turned 50 years old this year.  She is a fun and vibrant person and I wanted to make her a special birthday crown to wear on her special day.  I started with a chipboard frame and added painting, paper flowers, candles and lots of rhinestones.  She loved it and I'm so thrilled I made her birthday a little more special.  Sorry about the poor pictures- I forgot to take some until I already had it tied up to the package and I took these with my I-pod :)

See you next week!!!!

fall is here, winter is coming

Fall is here.  The temps are cooler-- especially at night-- and all the leaves are falling. My head turns to thoughts of indoor projects and more time for crafting.  I thought I would try my hardest to blog at least once a week for awhile and see how it goes.
What have I been up to this week?  Well- for one thing- I have already raked up these leaves once and it seems I need to do it again!!  We are blessed to have a lot of trees in our backyard-but holy cow does that mean a lot of leaves in the fall.  I planted over 60 daffodil bulbs back here this fall -I'm really anxious to see if they come up next spring!
I've   been spending a lot of time with Miko.  Miko hurt his leg last week and it really freaked me out.  I was sure he was going to need surgery and thought of all the worse case scenarios, but after a trip to the vet and some medicine for his pain he is good as new again.  My hubby says he is a big baby dog and I need to remember how spoiled he is when he hurts himself.  In other words- don't freak out so bad next time :)
In the crafting world I have been jumping around from project to project.  I've worked a bit on my Christmas ornaments I mail out and some necklaces that will be gifts.

I did some more work on the closet and little bedroom I was making for my new Blythe doll Susie Mae.
A little bit of work on the Marie Antionette doll.  I added lace to all the tables that will be filled with sweets and I started trying to make Marie a wig.
Last, I finished adding the cardboard siding to the old fisher price dollhouse and started painting it blue.  I think I like the color, but I stopped to live with it for a few days and see how I felt for sure.
So, that's where I'm at.  I really want to get back to my blogging habit- so I'll see you next week with another report on what's new.  Have a great week!
