Painting in my Free Time

I have some new followers--welcome!!! Life has still been very full and crazy, so I try to work on creative things in the moments I can. I have been trying to finish my painting for Willowings Mythical Magical Makings course. I think I am almost done- I need some more work on the face and hands. I am really unsure of her dress- what do you think? I love criticism- and sometimes someone else's advice can really help me out.

I've also been working on the Christmas ornaments I mail out every year. Here is a little peek at some of them-there is more work to go on these and then I have another set after these to paint up. I like to be done before the 1st of December so I can mail them all out before the post office gets too busy :) What have you been up to lately?

Hi Kim,
Thank you for the birthday wishes Friday! And for commenting on my pimple post- geesh, thought no one was going to appreciate it!
The dress- There is a directional force created by the pattern that leads the eye up to the face that is good. I think there is dynamic conflict between the pattern in the dress and the background because they are both equally strong. Is that why you are uncomfortable?

Wow Kim! I really like her! The painting is really emotive! You know what I love about whatever you create? You can see a similar thread of beauty and whimsy running throughout. Well done lady!
Cheers!

I actually think the dress is great. The hair and face is the best part of the painting though, great job on that :)
I haven't really had free time lately, but that's gotta change soon.

Kim, I tried to leave you a comment a little while ago, and something told me that it didn't post, so I thought I would check. I was right. Hum?????
Anyway, it has been a long time since I've had time to read anyone's blogs. I have missed yours in particular. I love your painting. Her expression is especially wonderful. The dress is great!
Your ornaments are also on the great side!!!
I've missed your blog, and I hope I can get on here a little more often, but probably won't till this teaching stint is over, DEC. 16!

Kim, I am very drawn to her sweet face and beautiful hair. Also, to the background because I have always loved the colour combination of gold and blue. I think her dress is very original and all the colours in it match up with the rest of the picture. For instance, it has yellow to match her hair, green for her eyes, pink for her lips, and blue for the background. I wish I could paint like you. Personally, I would not change anything. Her dress is whimsical and she seems to be a whimsical girl with those big eyes and twirling hair.

I love the dress, Kim. Also the swirly background and the expression on her (your) face.

Makes me wonder - what is she thinking?

I'm working on a journal of a recent trip and processing over 500 photos from same. We kind of went overboard with the camera. lol
