The other day I received a card in the mail from my friend Laura from and inside was a portrait of me drawn by budding artist Gabby.  Gabby is Laura's daughter :)  I wanted to share my portrait with everyone- it looks just like me :)  Thank you Gabby- big hugs to you!
I especially love my groovy pants and my necklace :)  I also received a package with the most gorgeous trim from Sans at !  The picture doesn't do them justice- I've had them on the edge of my desk since I received them trying to decide on a special project to use them in.  I think I may use some of them on my next journal cover.  Thank you Sans- what a nice surprise- I'll be sure to post on my blog when I use them.

This has been another hibernating type of weekend for me.  My hubby and I both have a touch of a cold so we've been watching movies and I've been tinkering with my projects.  I worked a little on the lifesaver path today- I think I like how it's turning out. Gotta go paint some dollhouse shingles now so I can finish off the roof!

Candy House Updates

Last week I worked just a little bit on the Candy House.  I need to get back to finishing the outside, but the inside is just so fun to work on!  I managed to think about starting a path from the front door and started bricking the chimney before my attention span for the outside of the house was used up.  I'm thinking about a lifesaver type path out the door, but not firm on that yet- I have to play with it a bit more.  The chimney is a labor of love- almost worse than the shingles, but I think the hard work and patience will pay off in the end.

I also worked some more on the tile in the kitchen- still not finished, but it's looking a little better.  The living room received a new table--- not done painting it yet--- and I found a little radio in my stash of minis that I thought would work perfectly there.

I painted the shelf for the bathroom and glued it to the wall- no changing my mind now!  I also started working a little more on the playroom.  This will be my favorite room to work on- I am saving it for the last because I am excited to make the toys and other goodies that will fill this room up.

After working on the Candy House I switched gears and started working on June's Creativity Challenge for January.  You can find it here if you would like to play along:  The theme is white and I'm doing at least 2 pieces that I plan to also give away- so stay tuned for the big reveal and a giveaway soon!  I really love how the first piece turned out--hope the second one goes as well :)

Wednesday Weigh In and Healthy Thinking Thursday

So...I had a good week and a bad week.  I started the week really well.  I did my exercises right away after work each night, I was great about tracking the food that I was eating and even getting a proper balance of nutrition.  Then we had a few really cold days and I started a new art project.  The bad creeped in.  I had a few days of working on my project under a blanket on the couch instead of my exercise.  However, I weighed in this week at 165.8, so it's at least a small loss.  I really think the exercise helps so much, so I have to work harder this week at just doing it right away when I get home from work before I make dinner.  I snack less after I've exercised- and if I exercise before we eat dinner I am usually more aware of how much I am eating at dinner-which is the meal I tend to overeat at.  My mood is improving daily.  I'm not sure if that's because it's just a tad warmer outside, if it's because there is light just a little longer in the days or if I am just in a better state of mind overall.  I even did a little bit of work on the Candy House dollhouse last weekend- I'll post tomorrow and share some pictures.  So- short post for health this week.  If you are working on your health too I wish you a great  week!!!  If you would like to join along with me and others on the " Wednesday Weigh In" please visit Marsha at  to see how Marsha is doing as well as others linked in :)
Thanks for including me Marsha- it's so nice to have a fellow online weight watchers friend.  You can also visit my sweet friend Laura at on thursdays to see if she is posting for Healthy Thinking Thursdays --and while you are there say hello- she's an awesome and funny chick!

Wednesday Weigh In and Healthy Thinking Thursday Combined

Well, here I am back at it again.  Long time readers know that last year was a hard one for me.  I felt lousy most of the year- actually I still feel pretty lousy-January has been challenging so far.  I decided at the end of the year as the doctor bills kept rolling in and I still didn't know what was wrong with me that I needed to try some self help.  I followed advice from friends- doing a little research first and talking to my general  doctor- and started taking some vitamin supplements.  I made myself accomplish tasks after work instead of crawling into bed like I wanted to and had been doing.  I cut some foods that obviously were not agreeing with my body out of my diet.  Sob.  Some I just cut back on for now, but I'm working on finding substitutes that are just as yummy.  Now....I've decided to try to work on getting my energy back and feel better on my own. I'm convinced that this year will be a summer of energy and fun.  I re-joined weight watchers- this time online in the hopes that I will do better.  Before, I would always skip or quit if I had a bad week because I couldn't bear the thought of having to face the "scale lady".  Now my scale lady is my hubby and he gives me encouragement if the week goes badly instead of the disappointed look I always got at the meetings.  I've also started out exercising slowly on the Wii Fit Plus game.  I know it's not really like hitting the gym- but I'm so weak right now that those simple Wii strength training exercises are doing a good job of waking up my muscles and making me sore :)  I had thought that I wouldn't post about this again, because I know it can make for boring reading..... but then I decided that I would because it is my blog and frankly- writing it out kind of makes me feel better about it all and stay accountable.  I won't be offended if you skip these posts- they'll be clearly marked on the title each week.  Marsha from has a weekly wednesday weigh in -- she has just joined weight watchers also-- so I decided to accept her kind offer to post along with her each week and encourage each other.  My friend Laura from is still doing Healthy Thinking Thursdays too- she has a couple of pounds to lose from the holidays and she is such a support system for me- I decided to still do that post too.  I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up with them separately or if I'll combine them some weeks and do separate posts other weeks, but maybe with all this support I can lose a little weight, get some strength back and continue to work on my food choices to find out what makes my body feel good and what makes me feel awful.  Thank you to Marsha for inviting me to Wednesday Weigh Ins and thank you to Laura for always supporting me no matter how crazy I am and keeping up Healthy Thinking Thursdays.  I need all the help I can get :)  So---I'm going to be foolish here and tell you all that I am starting out at 167 pounds ( over 20 of that was gained last year through all my struggles with feeling unwell- ugh) and that I would like to get to 140 pounds.  My suggested weight for my height is 125 or so, but I have never been that weight ever in my life- well, maybe when I was 10 or something.  When I weighed 145 a few years ago clothes fit very well and  I had the energy to play with my dog and garden- so I think 140 is a good goal for right now.  My short term goal right now is 5 pounds- at which point I'm going to treat myself - maybe a new necklace or something.  If you've read down this far then thank you- you're a good friend for reading all of this again.

Time Flies!!

I can't believe that we are already 9 days into the New Year!!  I meant to do a New Year's post- but to tell you the truth I've been very lazy.  January brings the really cold temps in Minnesota and all I seem to want to do is snuggle under piles of blankets with the kitties or Miko(or sometimes all of them).  I have even been having a hard time keeping up with reading blogs- I've been very eratic with comments- my apologies to my friends. Now to catch up a bit....first let me share some wonderful goodies I've recieved from friends at the holidays- I have very talented friends!!  Claudia from sent me the sweetest heart pillows.  I love them- they are the perfect color and match my home wonderfully- I've been moving them from place to place trying to decide where to display them best.  I think I might keep them in this bowl on top of the little gas stove in the dining room- I plan to get some pine cones to go with them maybe?  Does anyone have a better idea of something that would look great in this bowl with them?  Thank you Claudia- you are wonderful!

I also received a couple of owls and an owl charm from my penpal Dani for Christmas.  I have to show you the owl that she made by hand for me- he is completely perfect- I adore his little orange belly!!!  I have him hanging on the drawer handle of my hutch so I can see him every single day and be reminded of my sweet, wonderful friend.  Thank you Sis across the Sea-xxxooo!
When I haven't been snuggling under piles of blankets I have been doing a little bit of SLOOOOW work on the Candy House dollhouse.  The main floor is a living room and a small kitchen so I've been working a bit on that the last week.  I started on a tile floor for the kitchen and there will be tiles partway up the wall- not finished with that project but I'm pleased with how it's coming along.  I used some parts off of Michael's hutches and a little unfinished shelf I had for the kitchen cupboards and I painted a ice box I had to match.  I also added a black button to the pipe of the stove where it meets the wall.

I've been trying to achieve a country/shabby chic kind of interior in this house- but since I don't decorate that way in real life I'm not really sure if I'm pulling it off or not.  I added the same tile as the kitchen to the hearth of the fireplace.  I can't decide if I should leave the fireplace simple like this or if I should try to add something to it- what do you think?  The picture on the mantel is from my friend kibbygirl at .  It is handstitched and so beautiful in person.  I added the gems around the oval- hope that doesn't offend you kibbygirl.  I also bought a cute little crown stitched picture from her in her etsy store here:  --I forgot to take a picture of it but I'm using it in the bathroom so I'll be showing it to you soon.

The living room needed some furniture so I painted an unfinished wood couch and added handpainted canvas into the back panel and the seat cushion.  The pillows are also from a couple of talented miniature artists.  The "A" monogram is from Dale at and the stitched house pillow is from Julia at

I bashed a little wooden table I had in my stash and painted that blue to match- but I guess I forgot to take a picture of it.  Here's a view of the Candy House interior.  It's really really cold here in Minnesota today so maybe I'll get my tv tray out and paint some shingles this afternoon so I can go back to finishing up the outside of the house.  Painting shingles is very boring.  Anyhow, hopefully actually writing this blog post will help get me out of hibernating mode and I'll get back on track.  Happy New Year!!!!
