Poor Bernard the Bear!

I was going to work on the bus last night.  I did a little work on the dashboard- but then I could hear Bernard the Bear growling from the other room.  Seems he is a bit upset that his house is still not finished and he has no place to sit other than on his bed upstairs.  When I was at the Thrift store last weekend I bought an old pair of black leather gloves for 50 cents, so I decided to try my hand at making Bernard a leather couch and chair for his living room.  I think they turned out pretty decent- and Bernard is happy to finally have somewhere to sit.  Now he wants a rug so that his new furniture will show up better--I had to use half of an envelope for right now.  Sigh.  I guess I am starting a new project this weekend.  I'm thinking a rug with green, orange, white and maybe a black border.  See you tomorrow for Healthy Thinking Thursday :)

The couch and chair turned out great, Kim. I don't know how you plan to make Bernard's rug but you can find great designs online. I print them onto a T shirt transfer and iron them on to a light colored fabric with texture. They look very real. :-)

Hi Kim,
I am a first time visitor. Love your blog. I saw you listed on Lori's blog (Oh Mini of Mine) her daughter is sick and I started a temporary blog called Softies for Shelby. You are welcome to join in with us to give support to both Lori and Shelby. I am going to sign up to follow you because I too, blog about doll houses and my other interests.

Kim, you are amazing! I know I say that, or something like it, on every one of your posts, but it is SO true. How in the world did you make such perfect furniture so tiny!!!!Can't wait to see the rug. My little doggie sits and watches me sew everyday!!

Your furniture looks great, I'm sure Bernard is thrilled you thought about him, unless you start decorating with bear skin rugs!!

Love Bernard's new furniture. Amazing! I'm trying not to be sick by remembering leather gloves I threw out years ago. Maybe I'll call my mom to see if she can find some in her closets or drawers. :)

My walking schedule is improving.

De- Thank you! I think I am going to use your tip for a rug for Bernard's bedroom- but would you believe I am crazy enough that I already started a needlepoint rug for his living room? Some days I question my sanity :)

Thank you everyone for your sweet comments! Jean- you made me laugh! Bernard says there will definitely be no bear skin rugs in his house! He shudders at the thought :)

I have to give De lots of credit for this furniture because I have been taking notes and paying attention as she has been building things :) Thanks for your great blog De-you inspired me to try this project!

Wendy- you should check thrift stores too- that's where I got these gloves and the leather was so nice and thin and easy to work with because the gloves had been well worn :) I think that they would work great for some of the clothing for your creations. They did smell a bit like lavender perfume though :)

The furniture looks great!

What scale is this? It looks rather tiny.

The bus is coming along just wonderful. :)

Dale- Bernard's house is 1/2 scale- but Bernard is a touch big for his house, so his furniture is not true half scale. I'm not good at scale- but does 1/16 sound right? I decided that I would rather have the furniture fit Bernard than stay true to scale :) Hoping to work on the bus this weekend! Trying to add a bathroom- wish me luck!
