Presents from my Pen Pal!!

I think I may have mentioned before that in 2009 I signed up for the artful penpal exchange.  I am so very fortunate and blessed that I did because I have gained the most incredible, kind, sweet, sharing, funny friend.  Dani- I am so glad we have become friends and I look forward to many years of us being friends.  I hope fate brings us to meet in person some day- how wonderful that would be!!

Dani ( her blog is http://theweirdworldofdani.web-log.nl/mijn_weblog/ ) drew and painted me the most incredible painting for Christmas.  I love it so much- I have decided to hang it in my bedroom right over my bedside table so that I see it every single morning.  Isn't it wonderful??

Here's a picture for Dani of it hanging in my bedroom- please pretend we finished painting the drywall :)  It is going to look so striking when we finish painting the wall blue!!

Dani also made a special trip to a dollhouse store to shop for Bernard and me!  I think this was her first time mini shopping ever :)  Here are the goodies she sent to us- I am so excited I can hardly wait for time for mini play! There is a miniatures magazine from The Netherlands that I forgot in the picture-so many fantastic projects- but all in Dutch :)  This is a good way for me to keep learning Dutch!  I love the magazine Dani! There is a little monopoly board game ( I think that will go in Bernard's craft room eventually- when I build it!), a pair of Dutch shoes (these remind me of a pair my grandma had when I was little- I used to put them on and walk around in them until I grew too big for them! ), a little lantern that Bernard has claimed for his house- not sure exactly where we will put it yet- but it is so cute- and a little ladder that actually folds!  I will be using this in Bernard's craft room also because he will have floor to ceiling bookcases of craft supplies and he will need the ladder to get to the top shelves!  The best item of all was a new friend for Bernard!!!!  We have named him Lester:)  Bernard and Lester are taking the time to get to know each other.

Of course, now I am thinking Lester needs a home.  I have been eyeing the bus kit on miniatures.com  This is their picture- I believe the kit is made by Greenleaf.  Wouldn't this make the greatest home for Lester???

A Christmas surprise and Welcome New Followers!

I had a little surprise show up at my house on Christmas Eve.  My friend Eva from http://prunellascreation.blogspot.com/ had sent me a little gift way back in November.

I had thought perhaps it had been lost in the mail and I was a bit saddened by that- but here it is like a little Christmas miracle :)  The envie it came in was enclosed inside a plastic "damaged" bag from the post office and Eva's original envelope looks like someone spilled their lunch on it.  Thankfully, Eva enclosed the handmade bookmark she made for me inside a plastic sleeve, so there is no wear or damage to it!  Isn't it beautiful??!!  I want to say a huge thank you Eva- Acorns and Oak Leaves are my favorite- as you know- and I love the beading. You are a wonderful friend!!

I also have a couple of new followers to welcome!!

First is Chelsea S.  Sometimes blogger does not give me my followers blog info and this is one such case.  If you have a blog Chelsea please leave me a comment- I would love to get to know you better!  Thank you for visiting me!!!

Next is Cheryl from http://aminiatureplace.blogspot.com/

Blogger did not give me her blog info either, but thankfully I saw her post on someone else's blog and so I quickly hopped over to her blog from there.  Cheryl loves miniatures also- and vintage and antiques!  She has a beautiful Greenhouse on her blog that she is working on- not sure if it is 1:12 scale or the smaller 1:48.  Right under that post is beautiful painted minis she was lucky enough to find at a sale- what a great find!!  Thank you for visiting Cheryl- I look forward to keeping up with what you are working on too :)

Still so much to show you so hopefully I will be back tomorrow to share more :)  Happy Tuesday all!!

Rosanna's Christmas Swap!!

The other miniatures swap that I signed up for was held by Rosanna from http://lastanzadigiuggiola.blogspot.com

Many, many thanks to Rosanna for including me in this swap and all the hard work she has done organizing it.

I was to send to Sabiha from http://sabsminiinteriors.blogspot.com  This made me a bit nervous because Sabiha creates exquisite miniatures, but I decided to do my best -put my heart into it - try as hard as I could and not  be too nervous about it all.  We were to do something in colors other than red and green and send the item in an unusual container.  Here is what I sent- I was able to go down a size in stitiching- still not teeny tiny stitches- but I am getting closer!  I painted the box that I tucked the swap items into- I cheated just a touch as there is some green on the box :)

Now........on to the wonderful, fantastic and amazing item I received from Sandra at http://towerhousedolls.blogspot.com  Sandra sent me one of her little dollies and I have to say that I am sooo excited to have a piece of her artwork in my dollhouse.  It is truly a work of art- pictures cannot even come close to how wonderful this little doll is.  I keep taking her out of the little box and turning her over to look at more details.  Her little legs even have netted stockings!!!  Thank you so much Sandra- I am so in love with her and I will treasure her always!  Here are the links to Sandra's shops if you feel like you must own one of these dollies too!  Believe me, they are amazing!  While you are there you can check out the other fab mini toys she creates!
http://diminutivedolls.co.uk/shop/  (a side note here to my friend Patricia- you must go and look at the toy theatre on her home page here- you will be amazed!  It made me think of you!)   and    http://diminutivedolls.co.uk/shop/

Five Star Swap!!!

I am so behind!  I am feeling a bit under the weather- my apologies if I have not answered an email or comment that you have sent!  I had four days off over the weekend for Christmas and I have slept through much of them- I just cannot seem to shake this cold/sinus infection that I have!  I'm going to slowly try to catch up and the first post I wanted to make was about the wonderful gifts I received from Kathi's Five Star Christmas Mini Swap.  Kathi did a wonderful job organizing this swap and I would like to say a huge thank you to her!  First, I will show you what I made- I was so nervous about the 2 swaps I signed up for this year, but what fun it was!!

I learned some lessons in making this swap- most of all- I filled all the little punch bowls with the resin, but forgot to put the ladles in!!  I was so proud of not spilling that resin and making a mess too!!  I guess minis are the same as wood work- measure twice, cut once.  In other words- I'll be thinking my project through more clearly from here on out!  The little gingerbread men were buttons I clipped the shanks off of, but the house I made from chipboard and my very first ever polymer clay canes!  I forsee some clay playing time in the new year for me because I had sooo much fun making those houses!  I would love to try to make the entire house out of clay- but for this swap I was not sure I was skilled enough and I didn't want to run out of time :)

Now....on to the fabulous goodies I recieved from the swap!!!
First, Kathi our swap hostess from http://beautifulminiblessings.blogspot.com created these beautiful items:

There is a beautiful little beaded wreath and beaded tree.  The picture does not show it well, but the tree has the cutest little star on the top.  There is an adorable basket of real pine cones, a white poinsettia in a natural wooden vase and a couple of dollhouse miniature magazines for Rose the flower designer to read on her days off.  I already have the blue items in my dollhouse bathroom because they match so well- I'm tempted to leave them there year round!!  Thank you so much Kathi- I love them all!!!

Jill created the sweetest little plate of goodies for Santa and his reindeer.  I love the carrot so much, and the letter to Santa is so adorable!  Thank you Jill!!!  Love it!!!

Karin from http://orrlakemusings.blogspot.com/ made these next items:

The picture does not do this justice.  There is a plate of goodies for the holiday- the orange is incredible!!!  The skin is textured and there is even the little nub on the end where it came off the tree!  Cookies and candies surround the fruit and there is a beautiful little holly wreath with sparkling garland and a red bow.  Thank you so much Karin!!  My dollhouse dolls had a great feast for Christmas :)

Deborah from http://dlsarmywife.blogspot.com/ made the next batch of wonderfulness:

There is a cute little Christmas tree all covered in bead ornaments and there is a sweet little star that belongs on top, but it broke off during shipping and I have not repaired it yet.  There is a sweet little bow with hanging bells that is absolutely perfect for the door to my dollhouse bakery---but my fave is the snowman!!!  He is so adorable and I love him sooo much!!  I could hardly decide where to put him in my dollhouse- right now he is on the dresser in the bedroom, but that may change.  Thank you Deborah- and I am so glad this swap gave us the chance to meet!!

Last, but not least, Jaime from http://jlilroomer.blogspot.com/ :

Isn't this just the cutest??!!!  It is a tiny little christmas tree covered in tiny little bead ornaments with the smallest presents that I have ever seen under the tree.  The entire thing is under a dome with a wooden base- it is just wonderful and I love it soooo much!!  Thank you Jaime!!!

I look forward to future mini swaps- I had so much fun and I hope that all my swap partners liked my items.  I'm off to find all of the posts I have been ignoring till I opened my swap items :)

Winter Wonderland

I have so much to post about- but for today I am just popping in quickly to show you some of the snow we have had in the past couple of days.  I am glad that we were off work today so we did not have to rush out and plow right away.  In fact- my Mother-In-Law called and said she would rather not get out today-so with changed plans I spent the entire day napping!!!  I think I must have been quite over-tired!

I should be back tomorrow to tell you all about the AMAZING swap items I received as well as show you some of the wonderful items my penpal Dani from The Netherlands has sent.  I hope you are all warm and cozy and enjoying the holiday also :)  I better run- the hubby has decided we have spent enough time being lazy and he has dragged out the spackle to finish the sheetrock in the bedroom!  Better get helping while he is in the mood for working :)

Just in case I don't get a chance to get online tomorrow Bernard the Bear and I would like to wish all of our friends a very Merry Christmas.  Hope that you are surrounded by people you love and lots of laughter.   I shall be cleaning up the house a bit so that we can have my Mother-In-Law over for Christmas day. My pecan pie looks wonderful!!!  I get to open my swap items tomorrow also- so very excited!!  I'll be showing them to you soon!

The other half

Finished with the other half of my present for my friend.  I found this awesome "I Love Lucy" fabric and I sewed her an apron!  This was fun to make, but I am not great at sewing, so there are a few mistakes.  I think I see them more than others though- Now I can finally pack up the little table I use for crafts that has been a permanent fixture in my living room.  Hubby will probably be happy about that!  I'm off to make a pecan pie for Christmas-wish me luck!  I have never tried one before, and my hubby is from the south so there is a little pressure here:)

Another present done :)

Well, I am still plugging along trying to finish my projects before Christmas.  This last set of gifts is for a good friend of mine and she is behind as well, so we have decided that if we have to exchange in January it will be ok with both of us.  One of her presents is a small mini roombox.  Every time that my friend comes to my home she has to see what is new in the dollhouse and she just loves all the tiny items, so I thought she might like a tiny scene of her own.

Every time we meet we have tea- my friend loves tea- so I wanted that to be a big part of the scene.  I took a paper mache box from Wal-Mart and cut a hole in the lid.  Then I glued that to the back of the box.  I used scrapbook paper for the wallpaper and a piece of peel and stick tile for the floor.  The hutch is a bashed Michael's hutch that I added some details to.  I bought the chair, but added a cute pink cushion to the chair.  I purchased the tea set and the flowers.  The angels are a set of earrings and a charm I cut the loops off of and the purses are metal charms also. She loves angels and purses!  I had to have a couple of stars because my friend loves them and she is always telling me I am a shinning star :)  The small table is a Barbie cake plate - I added a paper mache base onto it  to make it taller and I made the little treats on the plate and the tiered cake stand.  I'm proud of them, but I will be keeping my day job- they took me awhile to make!  I added a couple of family pictures of my friends family from a wedding they had this summer and a sign with their last name.  I hope she likes it!!  My friend is nuts about "I Love Lucy" too.  I could not figure out how to get that love into the scene- but if you stay tuned....next up I will be showing off the "I Love Lucy" apron I made for her.  I'm almost finished with it!  Hope you are all enjoying the season!!!!   Merry Christmas!!!  Here is a close up of those treats on the tiered tray that I worked so hard on :)

Christmas preperations continue

The decorating for Christmas continues at the flower shop.  Rose and Hans live above the shops and they have been wrapping presents for under the tree.

Today while I was visiting Maia's blog at http://maiastwinkleminiatures.blogspot.com she reminded me that I had forgotten to keep checking back at the AIM Advent Calender. Different miniature artists have created tutorials to open each day during the holidays leading up to the 25th. If you are interested in dollhouse miniatures you can check it out here:  http://www.artisansinminiature.com/photo_25.html

Maia has a project behind door number 15.  I decided to try it out tonight- it is a pattern for a gift box and a holiday tissue box.  I made a few extra presents while I was at it to fill in under the tree a bit more.  Maia's cute patterns are on the right side of the picture.

I am soooo in love with the little tissue box- so cute!!  Thank you to AIM and to Maia for the tutorial!!!

WELCOME!!!!!

I have some new followers to welcome- I am so very happy to see you all!!!

I would like to welcome my friend Cathy from http://thefabulousfarmhouse.typepad.com/
I know she has been reading my blog for awhile-I'm not sure if I have ever welcomed her before or not- so here is a BIG welcome just in case.  Cathy makes the most delightful miniature cakes, cookies, candies and display pieces for your dollhouse bakery.  You can find them at her website:  http://www.thefabulousfarmhouse.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4_26
That link will take you right to the awesome things she has ready for christmas.  I met Cathy when I bought some goodies for my dollhouse bakery and I am so glad I did.  I feel like I have met a really great friend and I love to visit her blog- she writes of her life on the farm along with her family and her minis and I feel like we have a lot of things in common.  Thank you for being my friend Cathy!!

Next is the Miniaturists in Dollhouse Scale Etsy team blog.  Cathy had actually pointed this blog out to me and I started to follow them.  I am linking to their profile because there are a lot of awesome blogs to check out here if you love miniatures.  http://www.blogger.com/profile/14893783559745382699
If you are just starting out in dollhouse miniatures this is a fantastic place to visit- there is so much info and help in these blogs and tons of eye candy and inspiration.

Aru from http://aruoc.blogspot.com/ has also visited.  WOW!!  Aru works in very small scale- I am not sure what size-not so good at judging scale?  She has a series of mini scenes in votive/incense burners on her blog that are amazing!  Even if you are not a miniature hobbyist, you should take the time to visit Aru.  They are small works of art- like tiny paintings- I am in love with all of them!  If you have time go back to older entries- you won't be disappointed!  So glad you visited me Aru!!

Arantxa from http://www.miniaturasdelostalis.com/ is next.  She loves dollhouse miniatures also- there is a wonderful scene with Santa and his bag of toys that is created by her and contributing artists.  So sweet!  I cannot get my translator to work correctly on her blog- but the pictures are wonderful!  So nice to meet you Arantxa- I look forward to seeing more of your creations!

Last is Deborah from http://dlsarmywife.blogspot.com  I honestly don't know how I did not know about her blog!  I have to say, first of all, that I had to swipe right past her first page and go to the older entries because I saw the title "Five Star Swap" and I am not opening my box till christmas, so I did not want to see the items.  If you want to see what was swapped in the "Five Star Swap" I was in this year head over to her blog- just don't tell me what they were- I love to be surprised!   Deborah is a polymer clay artist-if you go backwards in her blog you will see some wonderful creations! So talented- love the dragons and turtles so much!  I can't believe I somehow missed this!  I am so glad you clicked the follow button Deborah- now I'll be keeping up with what you are creating too!

I always worry about how bloggers follow button shows up- if you recently visited and did not show up at the front of my list, please comment and say hello.  I would hate to miss the chance to meet a new friend!

Hope everyone out there is getting close to finishing their holiday "to-do" list.  Have a wonderful day!!!

Coasters

I've been working on so many things that I can't post on the blog- but this last weekend I finished up a project that I could show.  These are coasters that I painted for our gift exchange at the craft group I belong to.  There are 8 of us and I am the youngest member. We all bring a gift under $5.00- this blank wood set of coasters cost me $3.00 so I may get a little christmas candy to go with it.

My list is getting close to being finished.  Next, I am working on my very first miniature roombox as a present.  The friend I am giving it to is always so excited to see what is new with my dollhouse- so I thought I would create a special mini scene for her very own.  I hope to be able to post it yet this week-I'm trying to make some mini cookies and cakes for it right now and I have HUGE respect for all the mini food artists out there.  How can a few little tiny cakes and cookies be taking me so long??!!

Hope your list is getting smaller and that you are all enjoying the Christmas season.

First, welcome to Lúcia Soares.  I do not see a blog for you- do you blog also Lúcia ?  If you do, please comment- I would love to visit you and share your blog with my readers also.  So nice to meet you!

Next, is Aminashk from http://claypaperwoodwire.blogspot.com/  I visited Aminashk's blog from a link from Debbie from http://debbiestinytreasures.blogspot.com/ .  She is building a dollhouse at the moment- it is coming along great!  I have never built my own dollhouse before, so I am always entranced when other people do.  Aminashk also has a picture on her blog of the polymer clay fairies she creates- adorable!  I love the little baby fairy!  Thanks for stopping by Aminashk- I look forward to watching your dollhouse construction :)

New Follower!!

I have a new follower to welcome today!  Please join me in welcoming Zlatica from http://pupaart.blogspot.com/ .  I stumbled across her blog while browsing and I knew I had to follow her right away.  Zlatica love to paint and create dolls.  I am in love with her paintings!  There are a couple of the cutest, funky kitty dolls she recently finished in her blog too- adorable!!!  Thank you for reading Zlatica- I look forward to seeing more of your work :)

Papillon Bleu has a new etsy store!

My talented and sweet friend Patricia from http://papillonbleuuk.blogspot.com has opened a new etsy store!!!

Patricia makes the most adorable dolls- if you have time please go check out her store----her dollies would make a wonderful gift for a little girl or a big girl!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/papillonbleuuk

Her store is very new and I know she would love to hear  your feedback  too!

I wish you much luck Patricia!!!  I love all the dolls you have listed!!!!  You should try some of your sweets on your store too- I am certain they would sell :)

Christmas is Coming

I feel bad that I am neglecting my poor blog.  Hopefully next year I will be more prepared and this will not happen again.  I thought that I could still blog regularly and keep up with making christmas gifts, but it seems I am not too good at it. On the positive note, my lists are getting smaller and I  managed to get some of my house decorated this past weekend.  My friend Laura will be happy to know that I even made scalloped potatoes and ham for dinner last night- real food!  Laura has been posting some really great recipes on her blog and I have been quite jealous.  We have been existing on frozen pizza and sandwiches at my house.   Whatever is quick, easy and makes the least mess :)  Anyhow, here are a couple of pictures of my REAL house- not the dollhouse:)  I hope you are all making good progress on  your holiday lists also and that through the hustle and bustle your holiday cheer is staying intact.  Merry Christmas!!

Peach Blossom Hill Goodies!!!!

Well......even though I have imposed a rule for myself that I don't buy stuff for me until after christmas, it seems I always break the rule somewhere along the way.  When Jody from http://minileapsandbounds.blogspot.com posted some of the christmas dollhouse minis she finished for her etsy shop I just could not resist her beautiful christmas goose.  So, it seems I have bought my own stocking stuffer- the hubby likes it better that way anyhow-he hates to shop.  I took a couple of pics before I took him back out of the dollhouse  and wrapped him up for christmas.  Jody also sent some extra goodies- thank you so much Jody- you did not have to do that!!  There were some adorable holiday cookies and also some apples, croissants and christmas candy.  I could not get a good picture of the apples, croissants and candy- so hopefully I'll have a picture of that soon, but for now...take a look !!!  It's looking a little bit more like christmas!

If you would like to take a look at Jody's wonderful etsy shop click on over here:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/PeachBlossomHill  She has the most awesome santa for your dollhouse too- had to resist buying him also!!  Before I go- I also woke up this morning to find that one of the amaryllis is blooming- gorgeous!!!   Hope you have a wonderful day today!!!

A Game

A Game

This game is sent to me by Doreen and you have to answer 8 questions about yourself and pass the ball on to someone else. So here goes:

1. The names you are called:
Kimmy (not by many people, but a few special people call me this), Kim, Junebug- when I was little

2. Three items you are wearing now.
Jeans, comfortable- but ugly- shoes, bracelet from my sister that I never take off- they even attached it to me with a wristband during my surgery!  It's like a good luck charm.

3. Three things you did yesterday, last night and today.
Put up a few christmas decorations, worked on a handmade christmas present for my penpal Dani and started cutting out an apron for another christmas present- probably one of the few things I am working on right now that I will be able to share pictures of when I am finished because the recipient does not read my blog.

4. Two things that I have eaten.
Ugh.  Not eating too healthy right now.  Last night was tacos- at least there was some lettuce.  This morning was half an english muffin with peanut butter.

5. Two people I have rung today.
My husband because I work with him and he is on the delivery truck and the other delivery truck driver.

6. Two things I will do today.
Homework and finish my present for my penpal (hopefully- we'll see how long homework takes!)

7. Three best loved drinks.
Cinnamon tea, cranberry juice and I gotta say occasionally a strawberry margarita!

8. Three things I intensely wish.
I wish everyone that wanted a job right now could find one, I wish that my family would always stay healthy and happy and I wish that people would start to slow down and remember the old fashioned rules- like being polite, loving your neighbor, treating others as you wish to be treated.  I also wish that no child in the world would ever, ever go to bed hungry or cold.  Had to add the last one in- always stretching the rules:)

And the Ball Goes to: I think I will pass this on to Katie if she would like to play and to Mel if she wants to play---Thank you Doreen!!!  Very fun!  Please be sure to visit all  of these bloggers and say hello if you have the time- they are awesome gals!
